The first session of the Civil Society Forum on Sudan and South Sudan convened in Addis Ababa on 21-23 January 2013. The second session in Addis Ababa on 16-18 May 2013. The Third session in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, January 20 - 22 nd, 2014. This event was organised by Darfur Relief and Documentation Centre in collaboration with the African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights Studies, Darfur Bar Association, Human Rights Institute of South Africa and South Sudan Human Rights Society for Advocacy. The Forum adopted 11 (eleven) resolutions addressing an array of issues in Sudan and Republic of South Sudan.
The Darfur Relief and Documentation Centre is concerned about the renewed military confrontations in Darfur between the security forces and militias loyal to the Government of Sudan (GoS) and the insurgent Sudan Liberation Movement–Minni Minawi (SLM–MM) and the SLM/Transitional Council led by Nimir Abdelrahman in South, East and North Darfur States since 19 May 2017. The renewed round of large-scale fighting, which continues to date marks an end to the unilateral ceasefire that had been declared by GoS and the Darfur insurgents several months ago and frequently renewed. There are different versions about the reality on the ground and the manner in which the fighting had erupted. GoS claimed that the insurgent groups entered Darfur from South Sudan and Libya while the insurgents maintained that their troops were stationed in areas under their control in Darfur and that they were in fact conducting internal movements for administrative purposes. It seems that the two protagonists inflicted heavy human and material losses on each other.

The Darfur Relief and Documentation Centre (DRDC) is deeply concerned by the decision of Jordan to expel hundreds of Sudanese refugees and asylum seekers. On Wednesday, 16 December 2015, the security forces rounded-up about 800 Sudanese refugees and detained them in inhumane conditions in large hangers at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman. The overwhelming majority of these refugees and asylum seekers originates from the war-torn Darfur region. They expressed genuine fears for their personal safety and physical integrity in case they were forced back to Sudan. The Jordanian authorities is determined to implement this measure in total disregard to warnings from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) that they face persecution in Sudan. About 450 of these victims were expelled to Khartoum on Friday, 18 December 2015.
